Voyager Feedback

Post by buffy500 »

Ok, with some impressive d/l results for the 1st 24 hours there appears to virtually no feedback ?
I can only assume that there have been no major problems ?

Buffy

It's great- The model and textures are spot on. Just one gripe about the brakes though- When you apply them, it doesn't show the amount applied or even the fact that they are applied in the HUD or down the bottom of the screen. It can be annoying during activities.

The choose a nameplate function is great!

Total . buffy, you should be ashamed of yourself..... :o

Nah, very good. Very good indeed. I found the initial accelaration a bit quick though, so maybe the physics need a bit of tweaking :) 8)

martin, it is an "Experimental cabview", so as such not really finished :-) but I did make sure that the percent display works as it should with normal default models, so in theory you don't really need it (The series 7000 cab brakes were a bit funny anyway, the handle does not really reflect the setting)

Rob, I know what you mean, but I'm not really into the physics in a big way. If anyone wants to look at it then I'm all ears....The max power should be right, but the rest were guesses.

yep, have to agree it's great, apart from maybe the acceleration, which was a bit alarming.

was at 17mph leaving kings cross on robs route before i'd even got to the signal, with a 2 car set, and then found the brakes didn't work (due to me using simple controls) - scary stuff!

Sorry if this is REALLY picky but im sure no1 will bite my head off for saying it!
Theres a small yellow seem between the cab section and main body section on the front car. I can only assume its were the textures dont quite meet up. Or is this just me?!
Thought id mention it!
Otherwise Im in awe!!!
Cheers

Haven't had time to download it yet. When I do I'll take a look at the physics for you, if you want.

only thing i can see wrong with it (after being in the cab of a voyager once) is a) speed (mentioned above) on leaving stations and b) the cab view poss needs to be a little to the right. it is almost a center view in the voyager.

hmmm, that join between the cab and the main body, in reality there actually is a join line there, but agreed there is a strange line there.
I'm not sure where it comes from, but what I do know is that it might be a right . to correct, the cab texture goes right up to the edge of the texture, so its not caused by white space around the edges.
Texturing that cab shape was not easy, so the temptation to leave it alone is pretty high, I might have another look and see if I can improve it.
Anyone who wants to look at the physics is more than welcome too, let me know what you've found out and I'll organise a fix of some kind to be distributed.

Acceleration

Post by gregp »

I think the quick acceleration is because the MaxForce and MaxContinuousForce settings in the .eng file are too high.

This caught me out too - you don't use the normal ; and ' keys for the brakes - they're on the throttle like the japanese series 7000 - ie D releases brakes then accelerates, A decelerates then applies brakes!
