Minimising MSTS
Every time I try to minimise MSTS it crashes. Does anyone else have this problem , or, better still - how can I cure it?

You can lauch MSTS directly into a window using a -vm:w switch, ie
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\train.exe" -vm:w
It does seem to make the game a little less stable (esp if swapping views a lot) but doesn't seem to hit Frame Rates much (surprisingly) and the Sim is definitely still playable.
(Also very handy at work for a quick hide when the boss comes in...oops!)
Hope this helps

soz & all that Bas.
I hope my emplyers regard it as some (small) compensation for all of the unpaid time I have to put in "on call" in the office.
Just to really rub it in...
7:30am yesterday.
TV windowed in one corner (ready for the ENG-ER-LAND game).
MSTS running in the opposite one (driving/logging 4MT over the S&C), set at maximum available resolution (deliberately, to slow it down!),
Excel spreadsheet for the data in a background window.
And a PSP jpeg (which I'd forgotten to close) minimised.
Yet it still was managing FR's of 5-6 (once out "in the country"...
...& it still didn't crash!! - the PC I mean, not the train
!
All on a 350MHz MMX with 64MB RAB & an 8 Meg Voodoo 3.
Seriously though, having followed some of the many threads on performance/stability of MSTS it does seem rather curious. State of the art "Rocket Powered" set-ups that seem to crawl/crash for a pass time, while "Model T" jobbies (like mine) seem to happily clunk on and on. Seems to me there must still be many undiscovered hardware/software issues buried within MSTS, eh?
PS: Sorry too, Matt, for slipping in the first mention (as far as I've seen) of the dreaded "W.C." on these hallowed boards - hope you don't banish me to the outher reaches of t-s dot c for my impudence.
Regards
