Just An Idea But Have You Ever Considered?????
Hi I was just wonder if the moderators have ever considered doing a DVD of all the Scottish Community Routes Both Existing CD & downloadable ones & maybe someone could update some of them say with the case of Big Vern’s do the planned extension to the Kyle & take his Stranraer to Ayr Right up To Glasgow Central , I have most of these but I for one would be happy to purchase this for one simple reason it would keep all the authentic Scottish stock together I would say It could command a price of Approx £20 -£25 & maybe it could include a quarters Premium membership , Just an Idea I thought I would sound out .

I would love to have seen a continuation of Vern's WH2 route from Crianlarich back to Glasgow Queen Street.a former user wrote:Hi I was just wonder if the moderators have ever considered doing a DVD of all the Scottish Community Routes Both Existing CD & downloadable ones & maybe someone could update some of them say with the case of Big Vern’s do the planned extension to the Kyle & take his Stranraer to Ayr Right up To Glasgow Central , I have most of these but I for one would be happy to purchase this for one simple reason it would keep all the authentic Scottish stock together I would say It could command a price of Approx £20 -£25 & maybe it could include a quarters Premium membership , Just an Idea I thought I would sound out .
Don't suppose anyone is currently planning on that?

I think the Scottish Routes are some of the most popular The Scottish Central was the first CD I bought & I agree That a few would be helped by updateing Another possible addition could be the Fortwilliam to Oban line the opening to which is included as far as Tyndrum lower , I think the Scottish Landscape is Fantastic For Both Rail Travel & photography
Before my Illness that was my idea of bliss!!!!!!!!!!! base my self in Glasgow or Edingburgh & purchase a freedom of Scotland ticket , So Hopefully enough ++++ Feedback on this topic may prompt something to happen on both the update of the routes & the issue of a "Scottish Routes DVD " ( CD would not Hold All of them perhaps a double or treble may )
Well Lets wait & see
Merry Christmas Everbody
Hey That would make a good title for a Song LOL

Its not the moderators who put together the CDs for distribution on the site, it's Matt who decides what is to appear on CD.
And as far as a DVD of all Scottish routes is concerned, I must admit to feeling that it's not what Matt would consider as being a viable proposition......
It takes a lot of effort to put together a single CD. The route needs to be checked for completeness and checked out for errors, etc. Every consist has to be checked for coupling compatibility. Every activity has to be run to make sure it works correctly...and so on.
To take a selection of routes, new and old, and put them all together on one DVD would take months of effort...and for what benefit? To distribute a few dozon DVDs...particually when many will already have most of the routes already.
I'm not pouring cold water on the idea of a compilation, I do think that it is a good idea.....but I'm trying to be realistic. The benefit does not warrant the effort needed on this occasion.
And to suggest a price of £20+ would go against the principle of freeware route distribution. The £4.50 charge is to cover administration, media and postage costs, and to pay for the month's subscription. Matt would find it difficult to justify a charge of £20 for a DVD.....a single DVD blank is not £16 more expensive than a CD blank!
