SVR & WSR, why file size diffrence???

To all, :D

I was just wondering, why does the SVR need 2 disks, and the WSR only needs 1 :-?

And also, how come when I run the SVR, I have to turn down my graphics, but when I run the WSR, I can have them turned up :-?

I know it sounds as if I'm complaining (), but I'm not, I think that both are good routes, and I'm just being curious

Assuming this is a serious question....

If SVR needs more than 1 disk then it suggests that for some reason or another it takes up more space.
Either a much longer route, more custom objects not repeated as often.
More stock.
Extras (Startup Screens etc..).

It could be all or any of the above.

As for the performance issue, obviously, for some reason or another your PC can not cope with SVR on full detail.
WSR is either less detailed, or more efficient in its model design than SVR.
Maybe the SVR stock is more poly heavy.

How long is a bit of string ?

Simple. SVR is dramatically bigger. This is because a) it contains far more stock b) it contains many more details and shapes - each requiring lots of textures - its texture files which usually make up the bulk of the size of a route.

SVR have animated stuff lots of scenery stock wise not a great deal much more that wsr, and the models are different in both routes. SVR and WSR seriously need reworking now compared to alot of stuff.

Disk 2 was for the extra screens and activities.

Hi
You can ask a Windows computer for the properties of a CD, that will tell you how much Data is on one.
As both routes are the same price.......it makes SVR a better bargin IMO.
Cheers

Wow, that's a statement I must take issue with. I still think these are two of the finest commercial routes made. Routes like Bala Hub and Skipton are years old now but they too are still in the top five freeware UK routes around IMHO.

Age means nothing if playability and entertainment are still high.

Not played with them for a year.

Thats your choice but to diss them as needing 'serious reworking' simply isn't the case. Has WSR even been out for a year? What in that route is so poor that it requires 'serious reworking'?

How many old freeware routes do you consider as needing serious reworking, or is this just another dig at the payware boys again?

I did wonder that, I was originally thinking of NVR which has been out for a good while now. But WSR is as you say fairly recent.
If it needs a serious reworking already then it would indicate it was not very good when released, and I don't remember reading anything which had that as a view.

I cannot run WSR as the graphics expectations are far too high, but I can run the SVR with just a few glitches, but the loco graphics do need o be turned down though,

as for WSR on the first query the route does require the S&C to run it, can that be deleted when it is installed ?

Yes it can as the files are copied over during the installation process.
