No, I have never known such a place. Several commercial add-on companies don't sell in shops anyway - online orders only and while a big PC World will probably be your best chance even they can vary a lot from store to store.

Here's the best place for MSTS add-ons:

Or am I just being biased?

Seriously, I agree with Martin. Most shops selling PC software concentrate on titles that fly off the shelves, not on what some consider minority interest stuff.

Consequently, most MSTS add-ons are now only available online.....which let's face it, is far more convenient that hussling your way past loads of spotty-nosed teenagers wowing at the latest overpriced shoot-it-up game and hunting round the bottom shelf in the tight corner of the shop for where all the simming titles have been consigned!

But there again....I am one of the "old fart" brigade!

Being a Londoner I find it is getting increasingly difficult to find anywhere to buy MSTS add ons, I've a choice of four branches of Game and three PC Worlds in a five mile radius and everytime there's a new add on I've taken a fancy too out I visit them in a renewed hope they might have them in stock only to find I wasted my time.

I've started to buy from the online service here and can only add to the testimonials from others a very quick and efficient service and of course the extended premium membership, how can you go wrong?.

Hi All.

There is also a wide selection of MSTS (as well as Flight Sim) products available to order online from -

Just think folks - no need to venture out into the cold weather (for those of you in the UK anyway!)

Thanks

The 4.50 CD's here are excellent value, but the other commercial titles for sale here are not, for example, the MSTS CD itself is 14.99 on this site, but I seen it for 5.00 in pc world.

No, I can't compete with the other online shops or even the stores in most cases - I pay around £17 per copy of MSTS wholesale ex-vat, I believe my shop price is currently set at £19 including VAT, P+P and 1 month premium - so technically i'm making a loss on it.

Similarly the other add-ons, say something like Southern Region, you can get it from play.com for something silly like 13 quid I think and if I charged that i'd end up making a loss on that too once you include P+P, VAT and so forth. I figure if I can't *beat* the competition, there's little point cutting my own throat. People will buy from us because they like our service and/or want to support the site, those who want good deals are free to choose elsewhere (no ill feelings!) but since I don't have their purchasing power I can't get the really good wholesale prices they can, and competing with them is nothing short of suicide.

My local PC World still has it for sale at £39.99 the actual list price for the original version

One other commercial outlet although based down at Paddock Wood is Videolines, http://www.railwayvideos.co.uk

I've seen seen and bought from his stand at '"Tolworth Showtrain" the last couple of years, he usually carries a good selection of Protrain add ons as well as American routes.

Tolworth Showtrain is a good show with a fine selection of layouts covering all tastes and gauges I 've always thought it a shame the UKTS live are not present there.

Is it me or has PC World gone down hill lately with regards to PC games?

I have also noticed that PC is losing out to sps, xbox etc.. in the computer game shops... it is easier to rip-off the 'kids'.. .. but the 'serious' gamers will lose out in the end... less stock= less sales so less reasons to stock PC games.. less sales= less games developped for PC :o
Simplistic maybe.??.

In my opinion all the high street stores have gone downhill for PC games. All they seem to be interested in is Xbox, PSP etc. and all full of spotty little oiks barging past you.

We went into the center of Bristol today and I ventured into a few shops to look for second hand GBA games. Total nightmare with all the pushing and shoving.

I was looking at one title in Game and some little oik grabbed it out of my hand and said - "I was looking for that one secondhand" :o First instinct was to cuff him one but I would have been the one carted off the the police station. Instead I sought out the manager and tore up my Game loyality card in front of him and advised him that no way would I ever spend money in his store again until non-accompanied children were barred.

Makes me so mad

Cheers

John
