Some time ago I noticed that I could not make any new activities as my Editors and Tools directory was missing. I have tried a complete fresh install but still no E&A. Does anyone know why I am unable to load this directory and more importantly what I need to do to correct this problem.
Many Thanks

Hi Iainiainstronach wrote:Thanks for trying Jon but no dice I'm afraid
It says there is no such file.
For whatever reason my computer does not seem to install the Editors even though I do a full MSTS intall.
Many thanks
Iain
Look in the trainsim folder for "launcher.exe"........then double click that.
If you haven't got one email me...and I'll send it to you
Cheers
Jon

Hi Ian,
There is no separate Editor program in MSTS, the launcher just runs trains.exe in a different mode.
If Launcher.exe and trains.exe and their .dlls are not in the Train Simulator folder, then I would suggest you reinstall MSTS, after which Editor & tools should appear in your Start/Programs menu.
However if you have a MSTS icon on the desktop which will run the simulator OK, then :-
1. Right click on it and select Copy
2. Right click on the Desktop and select Paste - you should now have a copy of MSTS icon
3. Right click on this icon and select Rename, name it Editor & Tools
4. Right click again and select Properties and enter the Target name exactly as Jon gives above
5. In the Start In enter c:\program files\microsoft games\train simulator
Items 4 and 5 assume you have MSTS installed in the default location on the C: drive
Mike.

Hi guys I am afraid I am not having much success here.
My MSTS is installed on my E drive
I have a launcher icon in the train simulator file
I do not have any files for MSTS in my Start Program menu even though I have deleted everything and reinstalled everything several times.
I do have an Icon on my Desk top which runs the simulator ok
I tried copying the icon and setting it to run as Jon said but it won’t take it.
When I try saving or applying I get the following message
Problem with shortcut.
The name ‘E: \Program’ specified in the target box is not valid.
Make sure the path and file name are correct
Editors and Tools does not appear in my Start Programs menu
When I run the launcher icon a window opens called
Train Simulator Startup
With the following options
Change Video Driver
Play Train Simulator
Troubleshooting
Exit
When I first installed Train simulator many years ago I had no problems and even wrote some Activities for the Woodhead Route, but now I can’t get into any of the Editors
I appreciate you trying to help with this problem but I don’t seem to be making much headway at the moment

SUCCESS
I don’t know if I was getting a bit bog eyed at midnight last night or the fact that I switched the computer off before going to bed, but I switched on this morning tried the new icon I had made last night and voila the route editor opened up before my eyes. I could not believe it. I have tried to get this thing working for weeks now and you guys solved my problem straight away. Obviously the editor was always there but not showing itself for what ever reason. I guess I needn’t have reinstalled MSTS after all, but no matter I am just so pleased to have things back to normal. Now I have to set about loading the various routes I had installed before the reinstall.
A very big thank you to Jon (jbilton) and to Mike (mikesimpson) for all there help
This was the trainsim community at its very best and was much appreciated
Many Thanks
