I have a problem with getting Con Builder (CB) to display the shapes, pictures, of items and/or consists using Shape Viewer (SV).

I have searched and looked at length through the forums and find many instances of probs with these two fine utilities, but none describe the fault I am experiencing.

The Problem.
When I click on the yellow “3Dâ€

Greg,

Have you checked the Conbuilder forum over at 3DTrains.com? There is some help over there on the subject of the interaction of Conbuilder, Shape Viewer and Route-Riter.

Regards,

Bob.

Hi Greg

I had this problem initially, when setting the 3D Viewer in Conbuilder it is essential to identify the executable, using Options - Select 3D Viewer - Navigate to Shape Viewer folder and highlight SView.exe - Set button.

Kindest regards

Ray

Thanks for your reply, Bob, I have been there but none of the posts (that I've found anyway) refer to this problem :( I'll probably copy this and paste it in their forums and see if I get any feedback.

An update on this problem …………..

Over the weekend Joe Smith (aka joebandit) exchanged in excess of 25 e-mails trying to sort this problem out. We checked everything through thoroughly, and found all settings to be 100% correct :) - we tried every combination of order of installing CB SV & RR, but sadly all to no effect. Still SV won’t open

At the end we came to a possible conclusion that the fault may lie in Shape Viewer – in that SV is not responding to the call from CB to open. – With that in mind does the author of SV use these forums? And if so who is he (she?) – as I would like to pm him and see if he can through any light on the matter.

Thanks in advance,

Greg.

Greg,

Shape Viewer is the brainchild of Paul Gausden, who goes by the name of Decapod on these forums.

Unfortunately I don't think I can help here.

From what I can remember, conbuilder uses something called a "shell" command to run SV - basically the same as clicking on sview.exe
RR does something similar.

If it runs OK independantly then there is nothing wrong with SV.

Train store does not use SV directly.
It uses my viewer component and is almost built into the TS program.
