I will second that recommendation.
It is basically two types of routes in one. The first is a high-speed mainline run between Manchester and London with stops along the way. Great for running my Coronation train and Mallard flat out.
There is also a single-track light railway with many small station stops basically following the mainline, and connecting several villages. For me, that is the jewel in its crown.
For the modestly sized zip files, its a very well detailed route and has been on my hard drive since downloading a couple years ago.

Yep, FUDE is a well made route created by Pete Worsley.
It is indeed an 'update' based on James Hunts' innovative 'Modern England' route.
IMO, well woth acquiring
(as is the 'original'
)
For info, Pete is still well, but alas, not so much involved with the Train Sim community since leaving his Bolton home and retiring to pastures new in France
