What are the comments on Pat Daltons Skipton to Carlisle CD? Sounds value for money with 35 Activities but dont understand what he says about XTracks.

It may not answer your question, but the route is excellent and in many ways the best packaged to date. Who else gives you so much detail regarding the route and the activities etc?
I have had no problems with it, except those caused by the limitations of my PC

What he says about xtracks is that you need it. Nowt wrong there, you can just download it of UKTS
As for the route. I can only echo Tonys comments. It is excellent. It is very atmospheric and very detailed. It also comes with all the stock you will ever need and plenty of activities. The only concern is that you need a good PC to get the best out of it.
Don't hesitate. Get your money in the post and have some fun.

That's Co - Driver - Mike. The one in the other seat.
Yeah, you do need a very good pc to get the most out of it. What does give it a boost is the well thought out and varied activites. However there are other routes that have good activites, that are also mainly steam based....all helps to keep msts alive!

Don't worry about Xtracks! Once it's installed (a click and it's done in about 15 seconds!), you can forget it's there!
Go get Skipton-Carlisle. You won't regret it!!!

Sorry, but you can't have a look at my new photo albums: http://daveheald6540.fotopic.net/ because Fotopic is no more!
Just to put a few things right, for those that have posted:
Xtracks is essential for numerous routes.
A lot of the activities can be made a lot more playable, because there are far too many static trains on the route. Just delete them in activity editor.
Some of the the paths for the activities are also dodgy, but can also be changed in the activity editor.
It is one of the best routes available, but does require a bit of effort, to get the activities running more smoothly.

Hi Arthur.
If I could only have one route,Skipton to Carlisle 1920 would be it,no question. It was the first route I loaded when it first came out and is brilliant.I have loaded many excellent routes since, for which I am very grateful to the community. Some are still on my hardrive and some are gone but Skipton will stay as long as MSTS does.
You'll need Xtracks for a lot of routes and that's a bonus anyway, they look really good.
Terry
ps.Re 'sounds value for money' It would be great value for money at ten times the asking price.

Let's sort this out...
X-Tracks is a selection of new track pieces, such as Dimond Crossovers curved points and more intrecat pieces of track work, you can also have narrow gauge track & standard track on one route, Bala Hubb for example. Most routes require X-tracks, some require UKFineScale and some in the odd case require both.
There are several versions, the one you get with the Skipton to Carlisle isn't for route building, as it isn't the route builders version.
And you can use X-tracks on routes that don't require the use of X-Track, such as the Talyllyn, I have X-Tracks installed and the Talyllyn and the only diffrence it makes is that you can see the point blades move clearly, where as with the default track if moved only slightly.
