Ghost everything from a 40Gb HardDrive to a 200Gb HardDrive

Post by unionpacific »

I want to swop my 40Gb hard drive for a 200Gb hard drive that ive just purchased.

Would all my MSTS stuff still work like all my downloads and installs and add-ons if I "ghosted" one drive onto the other?
Will the registry ghost perfectly to?

Whats the best thing to do?

It should do, and you may be able to expand the partition to fill the 200Gb if not just create a partition or 2 to fil lthe gap.

Used to have nightmares with dos based Norton Ghost, was ghosting equal sized drives and unfortunatley identical drives at that. Had no idea which Seagate 4gb drive was which and often ended uop loosing the NT4 set up rather than copying it.

The latest versions of Norton Ghost dont require partition sizes to be the same, so you should be able to ghost your small disk onto a larger one without problems. :)

Hi
I would suggest...if you've got the space...leave the OS where it is and just copy the train sim folder over.
Check its running correctly....then delete it off the C drive (if you need the space).
Cheers

Check both the hard disk manufacturers sites.

Most of them provided utilities to copy a complete drive. Some may also include easy formatting and partitioning programs.
