Southern Routes - Contact Sales

Post by Iluka »

Hi All

I just got an email from Contact Sales to advise that:-

Swanage Express is available to order (29 April 2005 official release date)

I am a little confused here as I already have The Swanage Railway from 3DTS so I am assuming this is an extention of the Route!!

Southern Railway is available to order (May 2005 due release date)

Both are priced at 24.99 Pounds Stirling

MSTS is very much alive and kicking!!!!!!!!!

Kindest Regards

Mike

Swanage Route is by 3dTrain stuff in America, Southern Railway is a seperate route made by Blue Arrow which is a UK company. The Southern Route is a main line 4 track route from Woking to Basingstoke.

Hope this helps

Just to clarify matters, the Swanage route was made by 3DTrainstuff-UK, a British firm, but sold initially through the US parent company, as they handle the shipping of all 3DTrainstuff products. The same route has now been published by Aerosoft and is available from Contact Sales and others. Why they called it Swanage Express, I don't know, not at 25mph

There is an extension being built, or more accurately a new route, which incorporates the Swanage branch. The track and terraforming has been done as far as Brockenhurst via Bournemouth and also via Ringwood, but the project is currently on hold while we finish Cambrian 2. There will also be a rolling stock and activity add-on for Swanage coming out later this year - I'm currently working on the activities.

Hi Martin

Thanks for clarifying the above re "The Swanage Route"(3DTS) which is exactly the same as "Swanage Express"(Contact Sales)

I would have been really P***ed off if I ordered "Swanage Express" only to find I had already bought it from 3DTS!!!

Why are Contact Sales renaming the Route?? I will be obviously ordering "Southern" (by the BATS team) when it is released from Contact Sales but if I had ordered "Swanage Express" and received it only to find I already had the Route I definitely would not have ordered "Southern"

In the Publicity Blurb it mentions that there are more than 30 original Stations and Requested stops!!

I have the following Stations:-

Swanage

Herston Halt

Harman's Cross

Corfe Castle

Norden

Eldon Sidings

Clay Works

Furzebrook Gas Depot

Worgret Junction

Wareham

Holton Heath

Now I have ten fingers and ten toes but I can only count to eleven so that is why I presumed it was a new Route with an additional 19 stations!!

Kindest Regards

Mike

I don't know why it says 30 stations. I'll let someone at 3DTS know and they can point it out to Aerosoft.

Add-on is current day preserved only. If we ever finish the extension to Southampton (set in 1960), I'll make sure you get your push-pull coach for that route. I did actually run the M7 from Bournemouth West to Brockenhurst via Ringwood a couple of weeks ago - great fun :)

Just to clarify, I have a copy of the Swanage route from contact sales here in my grubby paws and it is actually titled:

"Classic Routes 2: Swanage Route, A preserved railway in Southern England"

Developed by 3DTrainStuff UK, published by Aerosoft Germany, distributed by Contact Sales in the UK.

I'll be getting this one up on the CD ordering screen asap :)

Matt.
