I am not sure how to remove the trainset and consists of the route in the program of MsTS?? Here is for an example: I have no problem to remove the freeware route, Coal Road ver. 2 from the ROUTES Folder in MsTS through Windows Explorer but how do I know which trainset and consists that belong to this freeware route that I want to remove through Windows Explorer?? I know there is two freeware program, Route Control Lite and Route-Riter but will that work to tell me the list of trainset and consists that belong to freeware route, Coal Road ver. 2 then I will remove the trainset and consists through Windows Explorer or you might have a better idea how to remove the trainset and consists from the freeware route. Any help will be appreciated.

If you first remove the route's folder from the Routes folder and then run Route-Riter's "Check All Activities", there is a button at the bottom of the report page for "Unused.....". Press this and you will get a new report page showing the unused Consists (and other unused items). These can then be deleted or moved.
Route-Riter will also tell you what individual .eng and .wag files are not used but I find Route Control works better. Once you've got rid of the unused consists, move all of the contents of your Trainset folder to a temporary location and then run Route Control's Check. It will tell you what's missing (and needed). Move that stock back into the Trainset folder and when you have a clean report from Route Control, what is left over in your temporary folder is the stuff you don't need (for now).

Dear John,
Another way is to before deleting the Route. Make a copy of it to your desktop.
Open this and make a note of all the Consists the route uses, having done this. Go to your Main consist Folder and delete them from there Manually. They are all in Numerical or Alphabetical Order.
About the Trains be very wary on Deleting them.Especially if you have other Routes, Activities and consists that use the Locos\Engines/Rolling Stock from your Trainset Folder.
All the Best

Which is another reason why Route Riter is better, as it can show unused stock.......................

Why not use TRAINSTORE available on this site. No need to delete anything, just makes all acts and stoke used by a route invisible to MSTS then when you want them back just un-store them again. I use this all the time now and it works great

Hi Guys,
Consists are easy to replace. As Bravedan says Routeriter is the way to go,or you could go the way of John's tip Trainstore.
These programmes are all helpful.......but if you have spent hours downloading Stock to run on Various Routes unless you have saved them on CDs or in a safe place where you can easily retrieve them my advice is don't delete them. You might need them in the future for other Routes/Activities that you download.
