Activities and Stock

Post by Tonysmedley »

I have just downloaded a dozen or so activities, mostly for Thames-Mersey, Bala and SMJ. But I can't drive them.
Although I already have over 600 folders in my Trainset I need to download something like 50 more items.
just a little moan

You might already have the stock and/or similar items - use Route Riter to just swap in new items, as long as they have roughly the same physics the activity should play fine. I did that recently on a bunch of activities I downloaded that all required commercial stock that I didn't have installed - I grabbed some freeware equivalents and a few minutes later Route Riter had it all switched over, activities working great.

Obviously you checked wat stock the activities needed either before you downloaded them, or before installation to make sure you had wat was needed. If you chose to install the activities without first checking, its not the fault of the activity Author.

Lucazone,
how many activities are there where you can find what stock is required before downloading?

Hi All

Whilst I fully agree with the above postings and I really do appreciate the effort that all Activity writers put in it does annoy me a liitle when I find the following after downloading and installing the Activities:-

(1) No File Numbers given for the Rolling Stock Required

(2) No prior advice that Commercial Stock is required

(3) Missing Consists from the Activities found after Installation

Fortunately this occurs in the Minority of cases but today of the Six Activities I downloaded two were the offenders.

Kindest Regards

Mike

I always include a list of the zip files and where they can be found for my activities. Using route riter makes it easy to get a required stock list.
