Hi,

Welcome to the Forums. MSTS sometimes crashes with certain components, if you can present us with a more detailed specification, we may be able to identify the problem. This seems to be a constant problem with the game; perhaps a Sticky is required with components widely known to crash MSTS?

Thanks

Does anything else crash often.

3 tracts

System Temperature - What is the system
Faulty Memory - Does anything else fail when running
Faulty Graphics - Do other games fail in the same way, any artefacts etc

Hi,

This program is useful for checking up on your PC;

I use a Celeron, and it runs at 40-45 Centigrade on average, I'm not so sure about Pentiums 4's

Hi Welcome
Was this a fresh installation?.
Have you tried running "Mprofile.exe"....in the trainsim route directory.
Will the default routes run?
Have you added any routes?.
DirectX problem?....run dxdiag.exe
Cheers

this has been in and out of the P.C I have lost count, the settle to carlisle only runs for about 40 secs before craashing and also the japanese routes do the same, there is nothing added to it at the moment I do have a lot of add ons but they suffer the same problem, direct x is fine its running high spec games no problems needing a lot more memory and graphics than train sim, even microsoft are beat at the moment.

Funny you should have problems.....

Since I bought my new Dell Dimension 8400
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz
1024mb RAM
256mb Radeon X 800 XT
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
230GB (7200rpm HDD)
Windows XP SP2

Train Sim runs great with FPS running at between 30 & 60....

However!!!! on two occasions and I cannot pin point what was the cause, I got a send to microsoft then train.exe wouldn't end normally...

I got a blue border with Train Simulator on the top left I had to CTRL ALT DEL to get the task manager to close it and on running TS again I got FPS considerably lower and the same situation on exiting....

The only solution was to wipe my system and start again...a real pain in the arse until I can find the solution.....

I never had this on my previous system

I checked everything including DirectX... although my gfx card wouldn't show in MProfile unless I wiped my HDD and started again so I'm assuming for now that is what is the problem is..... maybe it's the same for you...

Do you get the blue border on exiting ?????

40058.

yes I have had the blue border and I have also wiped my system twice now with no joy, I am on the verge of giving up and selling train sim and all the addons I ahve had enough, for a game that needs very little P.C power to run you are right its a pain in the arse and just pure frustration, i have a laptop as well with a 64mb graphics card in and it runs bloody fine on that unfortunately it wont run the add ons ie, Lse, london to brighton etc, so i am bloody well and truly stuck.

MSTS wasn't designed for 64 bit processors so maybe making direct processor calls that no longer exist. MSTS2 maybe?
