Or...for really realistic operations, stop at the crest of the hill and pin down some of the handbrakes on the train. press <F9> to bring up the consist manager, and double-click on the wagons so that they turn red. Ideally, you should pin down between a third and a half of the wagons in the rake, evenly spaced along its length.

Hi
I've not got round to installing the CD stock yet...but I have driven some of my own stock....and the gradients do seem very steep...certainly that downwards stretch into Whitby...I couldn't get my Class40 to stop....both brakes and then panicking 50% reverse...still hit the buffers.
I've also been testing my DMUs on the Pickering to Grosmont stretch....with some difficulties......and can't get them to climb out of Scarborough at all.
Perhaps the CD stock has been modified?
Cheers
Jon

By jings that brings back some memories stopping at top of incline
and pinning down brakes with coal hammer, or worse still having to leap off when moving and do it.
If you got tender engine 1st put tender brake on then if your wheels pick up your still holding train till she finds her feet again.
Regards, Rick
PS On some banks it were compulsory to stop Licky were one of them
our one was the KingX tunnel.
