Using a Class 47 as the rear engine

Post by ntanswell »

I have made a activity for Scottish Central Route driving a MK2 DBSO with a rake of MK2 coaches and a Class 47 at the rear from Glasgow to Edinburgh. The DBSO is silent as it should be but the Class 47's Engine noise just stays idle (like if you were driving it and just left the throttle on 0). The same happens if you put a DVT on the front. If it put the HST rear engine on the back its sounds go up with speed. This is what i want from the Class 47. I have made an AI Class 47 with Route Riter but that hasn't worked either. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi
Unfortunately this is one of the limitations of the sim....most sound files are based around throttle settings....AI and helper locos dont rev.
What is needed is a sound file that is based on speed...its not ideal....and requires a lot of manipulation and fidling.
I did once set 47701 up...but it wasn't brilliant.

Thanks alot you've been a great help. Ive got it working and although it is far from ideal its much better than an idle engine noise when going at 80mph on Scottish Central. :D

The rear HST sounds were setup to be based on speed, so it sounds better than it would have.
