Just a thank you to Robin for the excellent update to the County Class. Looks wonderful in front of a few clerestories. Looking forward to the curved frame variant.

County of Brecon with the curved front of the frame etc. to follow shortly and since the basics are much the same I got carried away and added one too many wheels and came up with a Mogul. As you will see form the picy below some work to do still on the shape and textures but not too far off now.

However [diving for cover] - thats really a 93XX though, as the 43XX/53XX/63XX/73XX all had horizontal reversers and a wider, elongated, centre splasher underneath it - however, the 93XX also had outside steam pipes. The GWR never did grasp the standardisation concept!

Plenty of scope though for shape and texture variations though, and looking forward to seeing all of them

As I mentioned this is not complete shape wise but it will be an early 43xx. As you say the middle splasher on the reverser side should be elongated and I need to lower reverser itself. This representation at the moment is a bit of a bitser in that most of the things put together have come off other locos I have built. So, perhaps they did have some standardisation.

The cab (although not obvious from the screenshot) is the early short cab it would have to have the collett cab for a 93xx for instance. Also the later series locos had a different reinforcement support under the boiler/above the crosshead bars. So, on balance Its nowhere near a 93xx I think the model leans much more to a 43xx than later series including tall safety valve and absence of outside steam pipes etc.

The point of standardisation is always one for debate I guess. When you consider the state of afairs before Churchward started his programme where engines of the same class could have quite significant differences his work showed the way to many others. Also I don't think it is reasonable to expect a design to stay exactly the same throughout the long timespan this and many other loco types were in production.
