Hello, is it my imagination, or are the Duchesses vastly overscale? They seem to dwarf stock from other sources.

There was a thread about this some time back, the conclusion was that there may have been a problem with the way drawings are scanned in and then applied into the Trainsim Modeller program.

If you wish, Paul Gausdens Shape File Manager program can be used to change the scale of the model.

This is not an issue with TSM itself you can scale the drawing to whatever size is required. It is always best to scale to a known size such as a wheel. I always produce a wheel (in the modelling tool) to the known size say 6' 8" for a GWR Castle and scale the drawing so the wheels on the drawing match that. It is always good too to check that the overall dimensions of the actual model are also right e.g. overall hieght and length.

I have produced locos in 3d Canvas and TSM there is no inherent difference in scaling between them.

I think it was the way drawings were scanned in and subsequently found to have been distorted by that process that was the issue.

When I put a Britannia drawing into gMax and set it up so that it was scaled to the correct dimensions length-wise, the drawing was 1ft short compared to the real dimensions.
