Funny, I was thinking the same thing myself the other day when I "updated" the WM 117 with the new performance physics and some tweaks to the textures. Looking at the textures now they are very poor compared to what I do now, but they were a first attempt I suppose.buffy500 wrote:
No offence taken.
The 117's were a long time ago, and look a bit tired now.
I think that they would be improved no end by 1024 textures and a rebuild of the interior.
If you do decide to rebuild the model, let me know, I would like to have a go at doing some detailed textures for them. Perhaps not quite so many versions, though...

Hello all, I personally like the Class 117s released on the WSR route, they seem to capture the shape well, and the underfloor detailing is very good. It's a shame that there aren't any repaints of these, perhaps they're not allowed.
It's also such a shame that the characteristic 1st gen DMU transmission whine cannot be created in MSTS, as I have a good recording inside a Class 117 in Bristol.
Best wishes, Bob.

Virtute Et Industrial!
Definately Tim. When Simon was working on his dmu's he had a very small area of the 1024/1024 texture for the cab, and they didn't look very good. He then used a seperate 512/512 texture for the cab and it has made a huge difference, so I would say GO FOR IT!

Definitely Tim, this was by favourite DMU.Timcourt1 wrote:If I get time to do it, I want to update the Trans pennine 124 unit, hopefully once the BATS Southern is out the way I might start working on this in the evenings, can do all my other stuff over the weekend.
What do you reckon - worth it?

Your first ever model was a 'sausage on a stick' modern UK platform lamp, of which you were very proud.
I have a VERY good memory, as friends, foes and mods will confirm
A class 124 revamp would be very popular I've no doubt.
BTW, if anyone seriously considers making a 1st. genration DMU, or SR DEMU (if they must
The binding on the book is holding up well
Met Brian Golding when MSTS wasn't even a dream. Meant mainly for 4mm modellers who were scratchbuilding, kitbuilding or hacking things about (a nasty habit of mine), I'm sure he'd appreciate the use his plans are being put to now by trainsimmers.
Anyone wrestling with with the infamous MTK kits found it a great help
Colin Massingham who 'was' MTK kits, sadly now dead, got so much stick over quality that he marketed them under the name 'El .'
That's a true story
