It's the name of the house of the ex-BR Joint No.2 CCE and president of The MK Model Railway Society.

Apart from being an LNER fan and member (probably president :) ) of the LNER Society, he's a very nice chap :P

Jeezz. I wasnt bitching, wished l'd used a bloody alias now to make the comment !.

See you cant even say what you want any more, without someone some where turning it into something its not, always looking for the hidden angle, he's payware there must be a hidden angle somewhere, has to be, he cant possible be normal, like the rest of us.

Sad to see this community is also turning into the ambulance chasing lawyer mind set where you cant say ( within reason ) or hint at saying what you think in case it offends some one.

As John D says, shut up walk down the middle of the road and dont look left or right, careful you might see a man with a gun.....Oops cant say that anymore !!, intimates that only men carry guns...sexism you see, have to say 'person' now, sheesh where will it end.

Cmon guys take it for what it is !, a simple comment, odd choice for a loco when another has already been previewed, nowt more nowt less, stop looking for trolls under stones, they died out with fairy tales.

Regards

Michael

John, I have no problems with why it's named what it is - I thought it was a racehorse, to be honest - I was just trying to defuse the flamewar I could see happening...

John,

I also believe it falls into Doncasters tradition of naming locos after race horse winners, usually the St Leger or Derby.

See attached link for an interesting list, see how many LNER locos you can spot, Deltics and all !

Ironically this side of train names l find most fascinating, l mean whats in a name !, quite a lot usually.

Best regards

I'm off out to see North star, Porterbrook or one of the Tracey family parked in the parcels bay.

Engines had proper names in my day :)
