The only thing I can find of Doncaster green is this http://www.uktrainsim.com/images/gbs/Im ... a07efe37bathenudehamster wrote:Eddie? What was 'Doncaster Green'? Was that the experimental darker green (similar to Brunswick) with the black and white striping? Be nice to see....
No Michael I was referring to the green that was used in early BR days as per the screenshot above, well the shading looks different to me then that ever used on models, real railways or MSTS modelsmickoo wrote:l think he means LNER green and BR Brunswick green, however there is a rivaly between Doncaster and Darlington and on occasion the green shade differs as does lining etc, Darlington had for many years a trait of painting cylinder colors green instead of Doncasters black.

Hallo!
It's the support forum of the German payware addon company German Railroads. Part of it deals with support of their products, but there's also a section called "Stammtisch". (This word means a special table at a German pub where the regulars meet and discuss God and the world) As in the pub all kinds of problems can be discussed there. The only taboo is criticism of products of other addon firms (esp. protrain) In the screenshot forum you can attach shots up to the size of 98k to your posting. Registration for the forum is free, i.e. you needn't have any of their addons.
By the way, if you're interested in German trains, especially free steam locomotives, I'd recommend you this site http://www.train-sim-werk.de/ (no registration necessary except for posting in their forum, good download speed)
Keep on steamin'!

Eddie,
I think thats only LNER apple green with BRITISH RAILWAYS added to the tender and new 60xxx numbers, l dont think they changed the green at all, but l wouldnt be certain as l do have a very faint recollection of there being a 'different' green, l thought it was Darlington green but l could be wrong, l will look through the book of words, maybe the A3s had a coat of this, the A2s certainly didnt, well not according to the paperwork.
Best regards
Michael

I can't be sure about that green; I've seen somewhere - and I'm damned if I can recall where - that there was a trial livery in early BR days of GWR Brunswick Green with LNER black and white lining. That would have come out looking very similar to the B1 in Eddie's picture.
It was, as we all know, not pursued, though I feel it might have been nice to have BR locos in 'regional' liveries rather than 'corporate colours' - but that's a different discussion entirely.

Georges, thanks - I'm trying to figure this for myself, rather than just 'copy and paste' as I find the eventual answers stick better that way. Finding the time to do the testing is holding me back as much as anything, but I'll get there.
I have, I think, four different .eng files as 'working examples' at the moment, each with differing characteristics changed. I'm getting there, slowly...
