I believe it's over 24 FPS (the speed at which cine film runs) that the eye notices no improvement. Anyhoo, in MSTS it's not the framerate that's the issue so much as the variation in driving through one scene to another - can drop from 16 FPS to 3 FPS and back ina few seconds. More irritating are the outright pauses or stutters while it caches the next tile or sound file.

I have heard this same stat too, and yet if someone shows me Quake at 30fps and Quake at 100fps, I can tell the difference. Albeit marginal :)

I can only count to 23, so I'm happy with that.

It does mean removing socks and underwear though.

Having had the misfortune to reinstall MSTS twice in less than a week (first time when the laptop blew up and I had to put a "clean" install on the desktop to transfer my routes, second when EEP - see other software forum - blew up my OS) you do suddenly realise just how old it is. All the titles which have gone the way of the dodo or been superceded - Links 2001, CFS2, MSFS2002 - all of which flash up when the programme is installing. Yet here we are still running MSTS...at least until something better comes along.

I was thinking TMTS actually. Spoor Sim is very good but rather limited in scope at present.
