I beleive its Train Master Train Sim, although (as is often the case) I could be wrong.

I don't post as often as I used to on here, although I still read the forums pretty much daily.

Is it just me....but the forums seem very quiet ....fewer posts...and most are either questions from newbies, requests for stock or just mind numing total drivel.
I had thought it might be just christmas....buts its been like it for 6 weeks or so now.Loads of regulars seem to be keeping away.
Shame

I rarely post these days apart from the Open Forum and Real Railways. Finding there's a life outside trainsimming, not out of choice but more out of neccessity.

Hardly surprising though is it?

For the past two years, groups, cliques and empires have grown with the bulk of their business being done elsewhere to persue their own objectives. That has dissipated the dwindling interest in MSTS still further.

The notion that, in many cases, these forums couldn't be used to further the ambitions of the individual, would clearly harm the site. Have to be honest and say that within a group, I didn't care. Outside of one and as a mod, it was all too obvious.

My attitude towards MSTS has returned to much the same as it was four years ago but I'm in the minority.

Firmly believe MSTS has got mileage in it but centred around UKTS, as equals and not fragmented as at present.

As for TMTS. Nine months since it was announced. Not a clue as to how third-party content will be handled. MS have worked in a very different fashion to UK commercial groups.

John,

We are busy building the thing, bearing in mind this sim is different and all new including the game engine which we are very firtunate to be in on the ground floor of its development too, some parts of which are being tailored for our needs!

Anyway the sim is going well, you will be bale to import MSTS contnat but don't think you will just press a button and hey presto we are running an MSTS route in TMTS because that simply cannot happen, I don't really want to go into details but as was said at the announcemt TMTS is and will be "Open Architecture" so we can all make our own addons be they trains, routes, activities or programs like Route riter etc...

Out of the box - well its a sim with routes and stock to drive pretty much like MSTS/TRS, Some aspects of the new sim we ar ekeeping very quiet about for obvious reasons.

Anyway sorry about posting here, just thought I would set the record straight, I know Commercial posts are not the best things to post outside of their correct place.

Anyway- I am still here and have been since it all started- I don't intend going anywhere for the forseebale future :)

Well, I was in the UK for three weeks over Xmas, too busy to get online much, and it has taken me another week to catch up with all the forums. The 'messages since last login' was about 25 pages. I don't think it was that quiet over Xmas.

Hmm, There seem to be a lot of Newbies about recently.
BUT, given all of the above points, I think a combination of them all is what is slowing things down a bit :/

I'm still here :)

A lot of posts lately have been a continuous sort of thread, on a project. I'll add my 2 cents worth, but its kind of hard to carry on a discussion.

Either that, or someones asked for help, and its been sorted quickly... nothing to reply on. Seems we're getting good at recognising MSTS's problems

I don't think it'll die, the community does seem pretty strong IMO.. I spend much of my free time on here reading and replying when I feel I can contribute something :)

Bring on TMTS :)

No worries on that score. Of the opinion that it will arrive when it arrives and details have no use until it's available.

My thoughts were of how generous MS were with MSTS and how default routes and stock were torn apart from day one. It's something we've been used to but it would be presumptuous to take it for granted.

I feel that when MSTS came out, and for the first couple of years, many people were experimenting with ways to do something new and posting their results here. Let us face it, when MSTS came out, very few of the regulars had any idea how to build a 3D model of a brick, let alone build the Forth Bridge, or a steam engine with animated valve gear.

Gradually this has changed and by now the limitations of MSTS are fairly well known, so that apart from the newbies, there is probably not so much to discuss.

Yet still people keep coming up with new ideas, Tims new ideas with UKFS, some very detailed routes etc. So I think there is life in the old dog yet.

For your info, Carl-Heinz has sent me a new version of TsUtils which will merge two routes (assuming they are at the same altitude, their tiles do not overlap, and that they both pass the 'Check Route Integrity' option), then a single button press in Route-Riter should do the job for you. I should have this uploaded soon.

Mike,

If there was ever an award for the most significant add on to MSTS I think Route riter has to be it!, Eye candy is one thing but to have a cantralised toolsystem like you have done really does it for me in My eyes!

Anyway, there is still life in MSTS yet as you say, I for one will continue doing stuff in the sim for a long time yet, who knows? Maybe after TMTS!

I know of Several items still under production for MSTS so it will continue for some time, as we get new sims, TA/TMTS then the likes of you will still find that you ahve a purpose,While I can't speak for TA I doknow that because of the nature of TMTS that the likes of you will still be able to contribute as you have always done By Incorporating features for the new sim in your existing products, co we have left holes for you to do so!

I think the communty will grow, although we may experience a little "Slack water" before the new sims come along.

and to those developing for MSTS - you will still be able to carry on doing what you have done over these last few years, wether for MSTS or any other sim that may come along - TMTS For definite!

A lot of the "Newbies" rely on this forum to have their questions answered, we were all new once and most of us still wouldn't have a clue if it weren't for this forum, and Well Established Forum members should take pride in the fact that it is them who "Newbies" like myself look to for their knowledge. I do think there is a little bit of clichiness going on but that happens in all communities. For the most part the majority of the members are more than willing to help.
I don't think the forums are dying, you can't expect folk to be on here all the while or nothing would get done :)

Remember schools are in the exam period at the moment, as are uni's so thats probably a fair few people taken account for in quietness terms. Personally im not modding as much as i was, have exams at the moment and need to pass them so thats keeping me off the forums, then on top of that have always got the Spooners TS work to keep up with, thats going full pace at the moment a hell of a lot of work still to do though on it, not to mention the planning on our next project.
