MSTS Problems with simulations...

Post by pendoboy »

Hi,

Is it just me and my pc that has these probs...

I`ve got MSTS and the following add ons, Cambrian Coast, Brighton-Portsmouth, North West, London & SE, Ballyshannon, Thames-Mersey, Mid East, SVR+add pack, KWVR, Bala Hub & West Somerset. They all install fine but when I go to play/set up a simulation sometimes the briefing doesn`t appear or the simulation loads but the screen freezes or sometimes the station stops when you press f10 aren`t there. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling them all again but still problems continue. So then I thought I`d try them one at a time or different combinations of them. London & SE seems to cause a few probs and I think North West may do too. Can different train sims cause conflicts/problems. At the moment I have half of them installed and touch wood all work fine.

Any tips or advice for a novice would be appreciated.

Regards

The keywork is "sometimes"

With all these routes it looks like the too many consists bug.

Time to download Trainstore.

and read the manual ! ! !

Hi

I would also recommend Trainstore after suffering similar experiences of 'freezing' once an activity had loaded up.

Reading the forums helped me realise that the number of consists I had (approx 900) was probably the cause of my MSTS crashing, which was due to the number of extra routes I had recently installed.

Since using Trainstore, (I have only used EasyTrainstore so far) I have been able to load activities without any problems within seconds as opposed to previously waiting 10 minutes without Trainstore and with no guarantee of it working at the end !

An excellent program to use but do read the manual first.

Yes - Trainstore made such a big difference and is so much easier to use that I would never ever use MSTS on its own again. It virtually eliminates MSTS starting screen loading time on my PC, and makes MSTS run reliably which it never did before.

Thanks for the advice. Downloaded Trainstore this week and touch wood everything works ok. Also I cannot believe how fast it all loads.

Many thanks,
