What should I get?
Right guys,
I currently have SVR, SVR diesel gala, LBE, West coastway, LSE, ELR, Thames-Mersey, NWE2, Woodhead, Thaxted, Talyllyn, so I am thinking I have a reasonable collection. Is there anything else you really recommend (either downloading, UKTS CD, or commercial)? I am definitely getting East Coast Express when it comes out, and I am thinking of getting Cambrian. Is there anything else. Also would you recommend Paddington-Penzance and MidEast UK, as they are on the "maybe" list?

I love the Paddington Penzance route, it's wonderful. I just got the mideast and I'm very very pleased with that, tho if I could only afford one it would be the PP. Also the Festiniog route bought from their page at around £4 is excellent. It has a very magical artistic feel to it like old fashioned Disney cartoons. You can see where Thomas the Tank engine came from. But buy the PP, you won't go wrong. It's major weakness may be a lack of activities but they will come in time I'm sure. There's a lot of activities on the mideast and the Ffestiniog.

MidEast might be getting on a bit now, but it still has masses of activity potential and being a bit older it is much more suited to mid range PCs. It's still one of my favorite routes.

I would recommend Cambrian and Swanage from 3DTS, Scottish Central and Paddington - Penzance are both brilliant, and S&C 1920 is a great period route with bags of stock. KWVR and ELR are both terrific preserved routes and both come with a huge collection of stock with great cabviews and awesome sounds.

what should i get@?
I got Cambrian and West Somerset at Christmas and have to say have hardly been off the Cambrian. Good route, scenery remains good with the graphics tweaked back a bit and the limited stock is execellent. Think the DMUs are about the best I have seen. As others have said interchangability of stock gives a lot of extra possibilities.

The cd is also available by order thru UKTS cd ordering. A service I can highly recommend for super fast service.02southeranc wrote:Where can you get the KWVR?

The guys have recommended most of the routes I would, with one exception. You really need a true scale narrow gauge route, and the one to have is the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. It is available as download from UKTS along with the locos and roling stock required. It doesn't offer huge activity potential but it is a very fine route and worth having.
