My first experience of train sims before I was fortunate to come across MTSand Trainz, was the Japansese, BVE system. I did find it enjoyable for a whileand some great routes (and well made) but I think it is a rather limited sim compared to the other two as you can only drive up and down that line and there's no deviation, etc. When I tried my first few tram routes I was frustrated at first as I couldn't find how to change points and the found you couldn't! Just a thought!

As a reletive newcomer to BVE, I must admit that whilst I agree with your main point, I still find myself draw back to BVE. Whilst the running options are limited, some of the routes put MSTS to shame (I'm thinking Birmingham cross-city in particular), and other features such as moving suspension and working AWS are great. It may have its failures, but hey, at least it's free

Hi Willm,
MSTS is great if you are into models, i.e 00 gauge etc, as you can look-over your train from all possible angles and there are some really fantastic virtual models available now. Also very realistic routes you can drive any which way you please or experience a Day-in-the-life-of activity which can be really challenging. There is just so much you can do with MSTS, even if it is ancient now.
BVE is great for both sounds, physic and graphics but is frustrating when you can't look left or right, or pretty much anything else.
