Hi,

I have downloaded a class 156 (156478) and installed it ok but I know that the cabview is not a class 156.

I have found and downloaded a class 156 from UKTrainSim (ID 8859). I unzipped the file then clicked on the install file, but when I selected the 156 it still had the same cabview as before.

I found where the installation went for the 156 and copied the files into the cabview folder for the 156 but when i ran the 156 it still had original cabview.

Can anyone help me solve this as I am newish to doing cabviews and sounds.

When I installed the original file for the 156 in the cabview folder it only had 1 file named 2000.cvf

First, you need to read the readme properly.
Instructions will be there.
Essentially cabviews come to install in two ways:
Direct install (or copy) into the CABVIEW folder of the train you want to put it in.
OR, (Saves space), into a COMMON.CAB folder.
Any cabview you download will have instructions on how to do this,
however, it is necessary to alter the ".eng" file of the loco/train you are installing the cab for. This tells the sim where the cabview for this unit is located.
Here is what to do:
Copy the files from the dowload to the desktop, and place in a folder called CABVIEW. Then (after backing it up) delete the CABVIEW in the 156 folder you want the new cab in. copy the first folder in. **NOTE: if the folder structure is set up for winzip etc, you MUST delete these.
What you want is the CABVIEW folder, when yoo open that you see the files inside, not other folders!! Once you've done this, open the folder, and look for a file that ends in .cvf (CVF file). Note what it's called (say 156.cvf).
then you need to open the trains/transet folder for the 156 you are "cabbing" (this will already be open) Look for a file ending in .eng.
Open this in wordpad, and scroll down about halfway where you will see:

BrakesTrainBrakeType( "Air_twin_pipe" )
BrakesEngineControllers( "Train" )

CabView ( 2000.cvf )

DieselEngineType( hydraulic )

Note "CabView" - change anything before the .cvf to what the cabview file is called. (You MUST keep the spacing to the brackets).
Then SAVE this, and it should be OK..
