Thames Mersy 3.2 Problem

Post by DaveUKN1 »

Hi,
Got my CD this morning. Installed fine. Ran a modern activity Eus-Liv and runs fine up to 9.18 miles from Rugby when MSTS hangs....sound looks like it goes into a loop but graphics hang.

I've tried sound disabled...graphics set to low....even tried to get it to work by installing the steam version but no luck at all.

Running XP Pro Athlon64 3400+ 2GB ram ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

Any ideas would be great !

Have you tried saving say 12 miles from Rugby, exiting MSTS completely, optionally rebooting your PC, and then going back in and starting from there ?

i've had a few problems too, i installed it all fine, went to explore the route, and it crashed during the loading, with the error "unable to load track monitor" then leading to the error of death. so kinda gave up on that idea, and ran the activities through train store, which hasn't given me any problems thankfully.
tho one thing has kinda confused me, the london-liverpool modern, the consist looks, well wrong. the train is fine, just the DVT at the end looks like it's the wrong one;

Dave,

At the point of the hang had you done one of the following:

1. paused the sim for some reason
2. done some fast switching between views

The reason I ask is there is a know bug in MSTS that can cuase the sim to hang and sound to keep on going in the loop you discribe. Usually the only way out is to re-boot the PC.

This is a very memory intensive route with many sound strams, lots of objects, etc. See the thread below on Thames Mersey and memory.
Activities are what makes MSTS run

Hi
None loading of the Track monitor is the first indication of too many consists.
I first got this on NWE2....and my installation totally failed soon afterwards...so be very careful.

Hi,

Thanks for the posts but managed to crack the problem after about 15 restarts!

I turned the world objects density right down and left all the other settings as they were and so far things have stabilised. I'm still running thro to Liverpool so will post if I get anymore problems.

On explore route, I'm being kicked out before it loads without any error messages.

On the ITR I keep getting 'failed to load........... do you wish to continue?' messages, including static objects, just before Kensal Green Tunnel, although as Willesdens just the other side, is this just a graphics setting problem?

Remember reading about sound settings, if that might make a difference.

Hi
Yes I would turn down all your settings...and see if you can get it stable...then start bringing them upwards slowly till you reach a balance.
You may be running short of RAM...also close down any programme not total necessary to the game.

Possibly due to gaining permissions or possibly overlooked
Simple to swap it anyway

Managed to get past Willesden now, but getting the Track Monitor error message on Explore Route now.

You mention it's a problem with too many consists. Now, as theres no other consists when you go into explore route, does this mean getting rid of some consists from the game?
