Right, so now that everything is working alright, its time we had some activities. Feel free to make some and upload them yourself, as long as we don't get multiple copies. If you're thinking of uploading, please post here first so other people don't go and make the same one.

A few to follow from me:

SWT Winchester - Southampton
SWT Southampton - Waterloo
SWT Brighton - Reading
SWT Portsmouth Harbour - Waterloo (possibly failed, i.e. using 73109)

I think that will do for now.

A note for Dave Babb - we would like ur desiro for this route pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

Please.

Cheers

Activity problem - more detail solution

Post by stephebm »

the problem was "_" not in activity listings; EWS_OPEN_BOX_WAGONS and not EWS OPEN BOX WAGONS. Or vice versa - hope this saves some others the time it has taken me to locate this.

Warming up my Voyager!

Hoping for more activites - I'll try and do one myself.

Regards

Well after a short break of not doing anything on London - Southampton, with it now working and a small flow of activities coming along, i thought i'd tell you the plans for the future.

The main priority is to get what is there scenerised completely, which is going to take a while considering it is not DEMed. I cannot say when it will be done, but i hope it will be done by 2006, which seems a long way off.
When that is done, it should be released as v2.0, and will therefore be a complete route. However, ideas have been brewing in my head of going further south, at least to Bournemouth if not to Weymouth, thus almost doubling the route length. I have yet to talk to Jon Powell about this, but hopefully if he agrees we will be able to get it done together.
If/when it is done, it will go onto a CD and sold via UKTS hopefully.

Anyway, that is the plan, whether it becomes reality or not is another matter.

Cheers for now.

I'm green with envy at all you guys who are enjoying this route. I did OK with version 0.9 and even found that you could create a northbound path that would avoid the freeze around St. Denys but I'm blowed if I can get v1.1 to work. I thought I'd thought of everything. Latest download of v1.1 File 2, UKFinescale 3.1.5, tsection.dat build 27, Newroads, installed all the stock needed for the Virgin activities, sussed the EWS_OPEN_BOX_WAGONS v EWS OPEN BOX WAGONS prob, solved a few missing .sms file calls, deleted all the paths except those installed with the Virgin activities just in case. even did a complete reinstall and yet everything freezes after a couple of minutes of driving in whichever direction. Tried creating my own path but same problem.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions? A solution would be the best Xmas present I could have - at least after London and the South East .

Umm..........

Well it looks like u've done everything correctly, the only thing i can suggest is delete the whole L-S folder and start again, but otherwise i don't know what it is, as i say it looks like everything should work ok.
Could be something to do with overloading MSTS, are you using TrainStore?

Any other suggestions to help this poor chap out?

Yep, I'm using TrainStore. I guess, as you say, I'll just have to try a complete reinstall.

Well, obviously I hadn't! So I put my thinking cap on and decided that the most likely cause of my difficulties was a defective installation of either ukfinescale or tsection.dat. I thought I had installed the latest versions of these using TrackManager. However, not being familiar with TrackManager, I must have thought I had installed everything when in fact I hadn't. I did a manual install of both ukfinscale v3.1.5 and tsection.dat build 27 and lo! the route works beautifully.

First, as I said in another thread, I am really grateful to you Rich for picking up the ball of this particular route and running with it. Second, I enjoyed the Bournemouth - York activity (haven't tried the Dundee - Bournemouth one yet) and particularly liked the neat touch of ending the activity just as you are about to fall off the end of the world! But why is the next station readout in kms and not miles?

Anyway, keep up the good work and happy Christmas!

Thanks, its nice to hear some feedback. And good to hear you finally got it working. :D

As for the 'end of the world', thats me with the plan on going down to Bournemouth, obviously Newtork Rail decided to stop there!
And about the km, that is something i cannot solve in a hurry, but i have come quite acustom to having metric and imperial in the same route.

Cheers

To solve the metric measurements, I think you go into the RE, load the route, click on the Route tab at the top, choose properties, and change the Units option to Imperial from Metric.

Interesting. Worth a try. Anyway, I'm as happy as a pig in **** now. I've got London-Soton working, have had LBE and the West Coastway for a time and (yippee!) LSE has just arrived, though the station I grew up in as a lad, Blackheath, isn't modelled (no matter). So I've got SR East, Central and West covered. Who can ask for anything more?

A Merry Christmas to all my readers!

Absolutely right. That did the trick. Also I noted in properties that you have the choice of electrifying the route as third rail or overhead wire. The route as downloaded has the overhead wire option selected so I changed it to third rail. I wonder what this will mess up!
