Hi

As Ive said many times, asking for 3d model builders to use there very limited (and much in-demand) time to work on a project they know very little about, by someone who has not been around for a very long time, and who has yet to release a route, is going to be difficult in the extreme. While I am not saying you are going to give up on your route, until you can show that you have made significant progress with your route track/scenery (trees etc)/ terrain wise, 3D model makers will not know whether this will be like the thouands of other projects that go 'belly-up' after a few months and nothing more is heard of them, and mean that the hundreds of hours of work they've put in has been wasted.
Therefore, it is probably best to start your route, get some screenshots up of half completed work, and the offers of help will roll in, thats a guarantee

As lucazone had shown their in the old route progress (thanks LZ) i was getting on well and i am very determined to get the route done, but without help i can't make the line close to what it is meant to look like.

The route is undergoing complete makeover so its now got DEM, markers, Trackbeds and such to make it even better than what it was.

But no one is offering to help as such

It makes me think no one gives a damn and maybe i just give the route up because no one is interested

Is there any chance of making the pic in your signature smaller? I beleive the maximum size allowed is 500 pixels in one direction.

Always thought route-building is a very personal thing and people tend to work on their own with help with information and buildings.

Once a route takes shape, assistance with models, signalling etc., will probably follow as people always look forward to a new route :)

erm...its been less than a day since u posted the topic asking. everyone is at work! hopw do u expect them to answer.....little impatient i think.

TBH though as has already been said, ur unlikely to get modellers anyway because people arent just sitting around waiting for things to model. We have all learned to do them ourselves........so whats different in your case?

Giving the 'l quit cos noone will help me' line is nothing new.....sad to say. So it wont have any effect.

Hi

People do 'give a damn', but how can you expect them find time to do stuff on a route which has only been started a few weeks ago, even if the previous version was wonderful (which was scrapped - unlikely to boost confidence that the route will be finished). I really hope you get on and do this route, it will be fantastic, however you dont need 3D builders to do custom objects until you have placed all of the the generic stuff like trees, signals etc, although I am sure a kind hearted soul will come to your rescue before then if you post lots of your screenshots.

Anyway, enough faffing about on the forums - get to work!

Come the time my route needs more than just track, I've no doubt I shall be seeking help - not so much to find folks to do things for me, but to point me in the direction of how to do it. I shall be asking for teachers, not slaves - I learn mostly by doing :)

However, if enterprising souls are willing to make things for me, I'm not going to refuse - but I shan't threaten to take my route away if they don't.

Make it worth peoples while to help: if you offer resources, photos, drawings, ideas, enthusiasm, then you're more likely to get someone interested in making a specific model for you: a general "help I need models to complete my route" only means the modeller has a year's work to do before there's any result... believe me, I speak from long experience of these matters.
Now I only make models of items that interest or challenge me. There's plenty of generic stuff out there for download that'll provide background scenery.

To be honest, the best thing you can do is take the plunge - as I did - and learn basic 3D modelling in something like TSM. The stations I produced for the Far North are nothing special or detailed and the Station Hotel at Inverness is definitely a bit cranky, but in a quiet sort of way I'm quite happy with how they came out. Start off with something simple like platform sections or maybe work through the TSM tutorials. It can get very addictive and the only danger is - you will start to enjoy that side much more than endless Route Editor work.

I am currently have a go at the route building myself and you could have useful advice. Sorry about user name don't put alot of thought into the registering process I'm afraid. My email address is dumitrip@yahoo.com but don't expect a immediate response I'm off on holliers in the next few days.
