People on stations and gradient indicators

Post by rikwesson »

I was wondering if there is any reason why no one has put a bunch of passengers on station platforms as when I driving activities it would be nice to know someone is actually using the train!! Also is there any way to put a gradient indicator on screen so you know if you are going uphill or downhill. Are these things even possible to do?

Try the SMJ route, not only are there people waiting for the train, but some of the stations have a cat on the platform. Lovely touch.

Now what would really be something are passengers in the coach so you could sit and chat with them

"Lovely weather, isn't it. Do you take this train often?"

"I should think so, madam, I'm the driver"

"Oh, but who's driving at this moment?"

"That'll be the AI fireman, Blind Pugh".

Ian Morgan has been sat in a number of early Mk 1's since 2001 - there was a thread eons ago about building a UKTS Railtour Coach but nothing ever came of it...

Yes it did, it's on the MidEast CD for one and may have been issued with other routes too. IIRC there is a MidEast railtour activity with a whole bunch of us touring the route :)

But MSTS does not support an on-screen gradient indicator.

When driving steam you can get an idea about gradients by watching the water level with the F5 display options.

However, you need to know the typical water usage for the loco and when the boiler was last filled etc.

Sorry to interrupt, but I was asking if people can be put on the platforms, not in coaches. :D

The answer is yes, there are a few people sets on this site, and some more on train-sim.com. People often don't add them however as they take time to place, need some skill to position effectively and can hurt framerates if you use too many.
