You computer doesnt stop. Thames mersey has some 300 paths I think, and so MSTS takes time to check it. Longest loasing time ive heard is 7 mins, but mine too about 5 mins. if you want to delete some paths then its maybe better at loading. Otherwise it and wait for it to load, it does take alot longer than normal trust me!

It will say that becuase it thinks its not reponsding. Its actually checking all the paths through your processor, thats why you dont see any hdd light flashing or anything. I admit first time I did it I thought it has frozen up but you have to wait. Best thig to do is delete paths you dont need
I currently have 163 paths and it loads up ok, but still takes time, usually about just over 2 mins if that. Read other posts and such and you will see what I mean, I think there is on in the acitivy creation forum.

Check your disk drive activity light while thr PC's 'not responding' - if that's on or flickering, then the thing is working it's little tail off trying to install all the paths - and the Task Manager doesn't know the difference between working hard and doing nothing....

Open the mersey route folder and create a new folder called 'Paths Extra' or something similar and copy over most of the paths from the actual 'paths' folder leaving at least one in the original folder.
Try out a few at a time and as has already been said trainsim will load a lot quicker.
Or if you haven't already done so download & use Trainstore by picking the activity you want to try, you will find that the sim loads even faster.

We included paths for all possible workings on the route, many of course harking back to the steam era, in order to make activity writing easier. As it turned out we sort of shot ourselves in the foot because MSTS has such a problem loading with the large number of paths.comrades wrote:why does this route include so many paths?
That having been said, with the advent of trainstore, which I would say in an absolute must, the problem really goes away.
