Class 20 cabview

Post by ianmacmillan »

This should really be in the Cab forum but nobody looks there so..........

I have uploaded an update to Robert Potts exellent class 20 cabview.

This will add a nose first view to the green loco. To use this you must first have installed Roberts original cabview.

The Blue version is complete as the drivers desk has been repainted.

There is a minor error in both views. The train brake control transfer overlaps the bottom corner of the window. I park my track monitor there and it was covered up.
I will issue a fix for this soon but the sun is shining and I'm being nagged to do some weeding so it will have to wait for a rainy day.
Should be tomorrow. :(

A grey railfreight version will follow and I suppose I'll get pestered for a DRS one.

Looks great, and there is certainly demand.

I read with interest that the right view is now a view out the back of the loco. Would it be better to keep "R" for a look out of the secondmans window over the bonnet, and the "L" view for looking out of the back?

Just a thought.
Cheers

Could be done but you would end up looking at a blank wall with only a small window.
If you need to see on the other side you could change the headout to that side.
I just use Shift and 1 to get rid of the cab altogether when I'm in a tunnel and an exterior view in the open but I'm not a great fan of driving from the cab anyway.

What I can do is post the lines to create a passenger view in the nose first loco.
You could then use it to run in reverse in top and tail mode and swivel round to look out the secondman's side when nose first.

It can be difficult to see signals when driving nose first around right hand curves in a class 20.
To help you will have a second man who will watch out the other side.

Here is the script to add a secondman's view to your loco.

Inside (
PassengerCabinFile ( YourLoco.s )
PassengerCabinHeadPos ( 1.1 3.0 -5.1 )
RotationLimit ( 360 360 360 )
StartDirection ( 0 0 0 )
Sound ( "GP38Cab.sms" )
)

Copy and paste these lines after the line....

IntakePoint ( 2.03 0.4 FuelDiesel )

and before the lights section.

Replace the YourLoco.s with the loco.s shape file name and edit the sound line if needed.

By rotating the camera your secondman will be looking over your shoulder.
Use this when running in multiple or top and tail to see where your going when you reverse.

This view can be accessed by pressing key 5. It will only work if there is no other vehicle ahead of it with a passenger view.
