Has anyone noticed that in activities when you start in a place where there are other engines parked up that when you switch to the external view your engine is silent but when you go in the cab when you are in the same place the sounds are still their. And that when you have left the engines behind the sound comes back! I have also noticed that sometimes the sounds inside the cab get stuck and it sounds like a CD jumping.
Has anyone noticed any of these two problems and found away to fix it?

Robert,
Go into the "Sound" page of the Options menu in MSTS and experiment with the different settings for "train sound", "ambient sound" etc..
Sounds can eat up a lot of resources and a lot depends on your PC's capabilities.

Can't help directly but I have used this 'mod' for a very long time now.as it increases the number of sounds that can be played in MSTS.
This is a copy of that info in the Sounds forum:
"The problem is the number of sound channels available.
The routes which came with MS Train Simulator are not
so sound intensive as additional routes like Skipton
or any commercial route.
The Solution.
Using Windows Explorer
Open MS Train Simulator
Open Global
Open Soundcfg.dat
Look near the bottom of this file for scalability 5 section
Within that section look for the line:
SoundSystem 5, 40, 20, 3145780
The second parameter 40 sets the number of sound channels
Change this to 200, so the new line reads:
SoundSystem 5, 200, 20, 3145780
Save the file.
DO NOT change any other sections or parameters!!
A decent sound card should handle 200 channels easily.
If your problem persists after changing the above line,
you probably need to upgrade your sound card. "
Go in the 'Sound' section in the control panel and make sure you have the correct settings...Hardware Accelaration' on max..that the correct type of 'speaker' is set. I use headphones but the system default is 'Desktop Stereo speakers'...get the latest drivers...
It might not cure your problem but it wont do any harm at all and takes a couple of minutes..
