Because BR became privatised and the logos copyright passed on to those institutions. I distinctly recall someone posting on here as to who owned the double arrow logo now, as well as the BR and British Railways names. Even GWR I think is copyrighted still. If you are that interested a search of the forums will bring the relevant posts up.

I remember reading somewhere at the time of privatisation that BR owned the names and logo's of the big four, and were refusing to allow allow any of the new toc's to use them. Would the sra own the BR trademark now?
