While getting to know the more recent large routes (Thames - Mersey and NWE 2.0) I've come across an error I've not seen before when running activities.
Once into the activity (often one with lots of traffic etc) suddenly the sim will crash out claiming it can't load a string of shape files relating to the scenery - even though evrything is fine in explore mode.
Only thought I have is that the addition of static items and AI traffic is exceeding some form of object or tile limit.
Has anyone else come across this?
Alex

Re: An error I've not seen before
Alex,
I think it's covered in the "Thames - Mersey problems and solutions" thread, and in lad491's postings about some of the NWE activities he wrote.
MSTS overload, it's trying to do too much at once.
Try turning down the settings a bit until you find a compromise.
Cheers,
Andy.

It doesn't seem to be RAM related so i'd save your money. It seems to be due to the time taken to load the tile in heavily populated areas. The loading time isnt as quick as MSTS expects and so the operation times out with the shape errors. The solution is either to reduce the number of static consists and AI trains in the location ( i found just one ai train was enough to tip the balance on NWE2 ) or alternatively turn all train, world and sound settings down one or two notches.
