A quick problem. MSTS crashed just outside Lichfield due to the following missing file:

LNW_T5_Lichfield_T,V_No1_L_Room.ace

A quick check in sview confirms that the s and sd files are there but not the texture.
Hi
As posted else where...but it does no harm for a repeat...this is a WinXP bug that ignores files that contain , in them.....the file is inside Merseyside 33.zip but you'll need winzip to get it.
Alternatively if you've got CC4 its in that.

Not in mine, apparently. Could you please email it to me, or tell me which zip file to look in?

Unless someone covered it before Train-store's biggest advantage is the moving of non used consists.

When you approach 800 consists MSTS starts doing wierd things.

If you are like me and have numerous routes Train-Store will help you manage consists and help stop some of the consist errors

My only problem with the route now is getting by Crewe..

Trying to resolve that one

Yes it is...if you use the builtin compressor of WinXP to extract a zipped file which contains a file which contains a comma in its name then it will ignore the file and not extract it....is that plain enough for you.

Has anyone else figured out the failed to load SMS object at Crewe?

It causes self destruct every time, though on one trip I used the Class 87 which the others I have tried the Class 390 or HST with the high detail. I suspect I may be overloading the sim.

Appreciate any ideas

I've had it twice, once approaching Crewe, once approaching Rugby. The first time was on the first run-through, so I assumed the download had gone J Arthur Rank, so I re-installed it. However, the second occurence happened after I had had one perfect runthrough, so I knew all the textures and sounds had loaded correctly. What I did was save, come out of MSTS completely, restart and voila, Rugby had been returned by the tea-leaf that had nicked it (when I got the sms messages I kept pressing ok, and the train continued, but I gradually lost track and scenic items, and ended up at Rugby running on green carpet stopping at a single piece of platform just before saving).

I suspect that there is so much processing and detail going on in this route that anything more than one run through must fill the memory or whatever with lots of spent files which need purging before restarting - I should say I also had a lot of AI traffic whizzing around which wouldn't have helped.

I'd try runnig it again, and when the sms messages come up save and exit, and reload, or reduce the amount of AI traffic you are using if any. Or enjoy the surrealist sight of the Liverpool Pullman gliding along the grass, steering without any visible means of support.

If you are using the BRclass87 sounds there is a missing wav file...x_silence.wav
You can find this file in the BrClass81&85 sound folder.

But I doubt that is what is causing the problem.

Hi
You seem to have answered your own question....basically your machine is giving up...not enough resources....so shut everything else down before running through Crewe.....another hitter is Northampton.
Try staying in your cab...that might help...if frame rates become very bad...go to camera 2 and go forwards of the loco and face rewards...thats the best angle for frame rates(MSTS quirk).
If that doesnt work...I'm afraid its better machine time.

scenic rolling stock

Post by chrisq »

hi there, id appreciate any help on this matter....

when im running my intercity 225 on the thames-mersey route when leaving euston in the siding in the engine shed there are a set of old coachess (lms maybe??) then further up in the yards again are coaches and old match wagons, is there anyway to set these as newer wagons/coaches or remove them completely?

i have wanted to do this on previous routes but as i have deleted all other routes so i can use this one.

cheers chris

Chris, I have put an option in to remove all scenic rolling stock. This option will be available shortly in the patch file.

I am planning to make some modern static wagon sets.

They will be available to route riters to add to their routes but I will also make a .wag version for use as static consists.
