Just wanted to say what a magnificent job Peter H. has done on the Duchess. That is one hell of a model.

With our imminent release of the new Thames-Mersey route (Merseyside V3 re-named) at the end of next week - the full West Coast Main Line from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street - well timed Peter, just what the doctor ordered - she now has a route where she can stretch her legs.
It will be interesting to see if any simmers can achieve or exceed the real locomotive's record breaking run of 1937 down Madeley Bank at 114 MPH.
Well done Peter, a magnificent locomotive, I for one will be creating some private re-skins for her four blue sisters. I presume at some stage you will be doing the red/gold versions as well.
In a space of just over two years, we have achieved the bulk of the LMS express locomotive types, almost all are available - all we need to finish off the set, is a decent Royal Scot to replace the default Kuju one, and a decent Princess Royal.

"Any railway that paints their locomotives such a magnificent shade of red, must be the most superior in the land" (apologies to the late David Jenkinson).

What about the magnificent rebuilt princess coronation.
Hardly anyone has realeased a decent de-streamlined loco of the class.

i'm glad someone brought the topic up, it really is a fantastic model and deserves some praise
,
just curious peter, are you planning any more varients at all, (i.e. a maroon one, or de-streamlined one?)
not to be greedy of course lol
just nice to know what the future may hold, in my opinion the de-streamlined varient are among the best looking loco's in existance.

Dowloaded it as soon as i saw it have been waiting ages for this loco... not got round to running it yet.
Just ran it on the deafault S&C
Top Speed with AI Fireman was 110.
Need some coaches painted up now
Why was the streamlining removed?

Several reasons I think. Why was the streamlining removed?
It made maintenance a nightmare - for example the A4's originally had fairings over the wheels which were soon removed.
It was established in wind tunnel tests that under most conditions the streamlining of the Duchesses and A4's didn't really make that much difference to their speed.
It was more of an eye catching publicity stunt brought about by the rivalry between the LMS and LNER.
I agree that the un-streamlined version was probably the best looking steam locomotive ever - the Bullied Pacifics looked good when they were de-spam-canned too.
That's me in that picture....

I've made a start on repainting a correct formation Coronation Scot for my own amusement, using Dave Ball's fabulous Period 3 coaches. If no-one else is doing them I will ask Dave if he would be happy to allow them to be uploaded, and see if it is possible to add the pressure-ventilation ducts to the passenger coach roofs that were such a feature of the real coaches. Even without the ventilator "clerestory" the correct formation of BFK+FK+FO+RK+TO+TO+RK+TO+BTK is possible and should look very nice.nwallace wrote: Need some coaches painted up now![]()
Oh, and if I do upload them I will need a set of running numbers as I cannot find the carriage numbers anywhere!
