ESR route

yea i will because most the locomotives would need to build sracthed built if you go to there home page http://www.eastsomersetrailway.co.uk then go to rolling stock then locomotives they've got pictures of the locomotives there

Hi
Buy the route building guide from Abacus and start off by doing something fictional for a couple of weeks to get some expierience before attempting anything Protoypical. I also reccomend reading the DEM tutorial in the Route Building forum. Above all though, if you have a problem please ask for help, dont quietly leave it and leave everyone guessing on its status.

If you are visiting the ESR at Cranmore, if you ask politely they are likely to let you take pics and measurements of the locos and stock. Just explain what you want and why. If the guys have the time they will be very helpful - running days are best as there are likely to be folk down the 'dirty end' looking for things to do. I speak as an ex-volunteer: if a member of the public was interested and had a healthy respect for safety, then I was happy to help and accompany them.
Bear in mind that the ESR is only 2.5 miles long but if you include Yeoman's line from Merehead to the West of England main line at Witham, with a couple of class 59s from UKTrainSim (use download search and enter 'class 59' as keywords) and 'Western Yeoman II' the EMD switcher (there must be a suitable one for MSTS available from the States) you can run dirty great aggregate trains in addition to Thomas!
There is considerable scope for activities: in addition to the standard one engine in steam passenger service, there are mixed traffic galas with double-heading and banking, also Thomas events and Diesel Weekends. 'Flying Scotsman' used to be over-nighted at Cranmore and on one of the Yeoman open days, they used 'Black Prince' to show how heavy freight should be hauled! The operation of the aggregate trains is also interesting, involving working around the triangle at Merehead.
Passenger stock is mostly BR MK1s, with a mix of freight and the occasional exotic such as an ex-GWR inspection saloon and a steam crane. Steam locos that have worked on the ESR during preservation (and this is not exhaustive, only those I know of) include: 14xxs, various Panniers, 9F 'Black Prince', 4MT 'Green Knight', J52, J94, Castle, A3, 56xx, GWR No.813, 2MT 260, GWR small prairies, LM&SR 3F Jinties (both black and Thomas blue), MR 1F (I think), SE&CR P, SR Schools 'Stowe', Dubs crane tank, the Barclays (705, 'Lord Fisher' & 'Lady Nan'), LB&SCR E1, and the Yankee/Yugo Dock Tank. The regular diesels include Yeoman 08s and the stalwart Sentinel, PBA No.39 (a similar model was recently made available on UKTrainSim). Plenty of variety!
Finally, be aware that the ESR and B&ER lines Witham - Wells - Yatton are planned for inclusion in the Paddington - Penzance project. Of course the present ESR is a shadow of the original, stopping short of Shepton Mallet by 0.5 mile.

who's been to the ESR in the last 6 months or works down there could be a help in making the route

Hey i can help alot! im a guard down there, been there for a couple of months now, and id love to see this route on MSTS though! need any help just ask, i can get the maps, emergency exit points ect, in fact give me a PM and id be happy to give you a tour round, how it all works ect, just ask! id be more than happy to!
