5 Mile Line Diagrams

Post by arabiandisco »

I can figure these out mostly, but there is one query I have: What units are curvature measured in? Most of it's pretty simple, but I can't figure that out. Anyone here more familiar with them than I am?

that's what I thought, but the numers are in the region of 280 for the curve onto the hastigs line at Tonbridge East Jcn, and numbers over 1000 are frequent. Since there's 80 chains to a mile, I have my doubts that it still is in chains!

Maybe its in yards then? 280 yards is roughly 250 metres, a not uncommon track radius.

Yeah, I reckon it's yards or metres, and since they're about the same it's not that important... But if anyone knows definitively then i'm still interested.

thanks to those who've replied :)
