I'll try that sometime
. But my mate alan johnson at ews did the "can can" tune with the horn in a class 56 last summer
. I tried doing the axelf tune from beverley hill cop 2 in a class 90 (90126 i think that was its fleetnumber
) last month but it went wrong
. The boss was not too amused at i did it in a tunnel not too far away from the depot hehe
. But to keep the rymthm in tune for that type of tune you have to constantly move the stick at the right moment or it will sound rather funny and my attempt did funny enough
.
cheers

What a desperately sad state of affairs that we have all these highly highly complex, cutting edge, multiple voltage machines and no use for them, other than tootling around Birmingham. Just about sums up the state of the railways in this country, it makes you despair.
It would never happen in Switzerland where a large proportion of the huge amount of railway freight traffic is still in the hands of 45 year old AE6/6 machines. The Swiss tend to get rather good useage out of their loco's and the concept of withdrawing whole classes of 1970's and 80's built machines would cause amazement. The Class 87/56/58's, if Swiss, would be getting 25 year major rebuilds round about now.
Incidentally, what's the top speed of a 92 and could it be re-geared for use as a passenger hauling locomotive?

I think a 92 can do about 80. And the issue with using them for passenger work is they don't have ETH as far as I know, except those that were to work the night trains that never happened, and the ETH on those is no longer HSE compliant. Plus there's not the demand for loco hauled passenger trains these days to make it worthwhile, especially with class 90s becoming available from virgin.
