Moving MSTS
Is it possible to move MSTS to another Hard Drive at all?
I'm currently running it in Drive C like most people, but i'm hoping to move it into drive E or F.
Any ideas?

You can run MSTS from where ever you like. The safest way to do it is to rename the actual Train Simulator folder. This makes the installer think that it is not there.
Now do a fresh install of the sim to whatever drive you like, then move over all the stuff you want from the copy on C:\.

Agreed,
Just do a minimum install to your new location, then copy the old install over the top.
Or possibly you could alter the registry key that dictates the path.
Its...
HotKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\1.0\Path
(You do this at your own risk, and I've never done it myself !)

I'm actully scared to do so as well lol.
Thing is, my current MSTS disk is scratched to buggery and won't install.
I was wondering if I could copy and paste the whole lot to a new drive without the disks, if not then i'll get a brand new MSTS disk from PC world in Bexhill and do it that way.

Have you got that version of MSTS where you have to keep the CD in the drive for MSTS to run?
If that becomes the norm with software releases, your problem will become common place. CD's should be safely put away once the program is installed so they don't get scratched etc. but if the prog won't run without it, it is CD suicide!
I've decided never to buy a program in future that insists on the CD being left in the drive for that reason. And will the CD remain compatible with newer DVD drives that are coming out? Quite possibly not.
Re your query, if the CD will not install anymore, then move your MSTS installation to the new drive and you'll have to edit the registry pointer. You'll only need to change the path to its new location. I'd investigate the registry change first to see if you think you'll be able to accomplish that change before committing yourself.

I did this a while ago moving it from C: to D: then fiddling with the registry. Works fine, but there are about 50 registry entries you have to change. It is easier to uninstall, then reinstall it.

Changing entries in the Registry is easy enough, although I've only ever done it once, and I was scared stiff doing it. It did sort out an annoying problem with XP though. Pity I left that copy of PC Format on top of the college vending machine. D'oh!
If you do decide to go into the registry, do as anyone will advise you, and save a copy of the existing registry. I personally would make two backups, and put both of them in different places if I was doing a major alteration like the re-location of MSTS.

I used to run Msts on E:/ untill I got a copy of trainset chooser.
I now run it on C:/ without any reinstall.
I searched the registry for E:/program files/microsoft games/train simulator and it found every Key in turn and I just simply changed them to C:/ voila done
There was only about 2 or three for Msts.
the rest were TSM Gmax and 3D canvas. Plus a few Ultra edit 32 enteries for last edited files ;')
Once the Sim is moved and reg keys are changed "Re-link your Shortcuts to the new drive letter from C:/"
Also If you Get a problem with CD's requireing the CD Get hold Of a copy Of Clone CD. It copies all including the CD protection. saves me loads of lost games due to Damaged disks. (melted one in last drive when It malfunctioned. lol) LG 52X MAX destroyed Hdd on dads old computer once through vibration

Alan - Excuse my ignorance, but what is trainset chooser and where do you get it?
I see no reason to suppose that these machines will ever force themselves into general use - The Duke of Wellington on steam locomotives, 1825.
