Scroll down to "GWR named locomotive database", here you will be able to find what you are looking for. Couldn't find Ark Royal but Dreadnought is listed!

Re: Dreadnought and Ark Royal
They are fictional locos. Although something like them was designed by the GWR drawing office in the late 1940s. I did stray from the official drawing a bit as it looked too much like a GWR version of an LMS Princess Class. They never got beyond that stage. Not only was there the advent of the BR era but such locos were just not needed. The Castle & kings were more than adequate to pull the trains on the GWR routes.sp316 wrote:Robin Howell models of Ark Royal and Dreadnought which are GWR locos are they fictional or fact becuase i know they was only one GWR loco like that called the Great Bear but i not quite sure if they are true
There are several other examples of drawn but not built GWR locos e.g a 0-8-0 Pannier tank. I imagine this is true of most companies drawing offices and are not likely ever to have been seriously considered for building just exercise in "what-if"

Re: Dreadnought and Ark Royal
There was indeed a real Dreadnought loco. But this was completely different to the fictional one I produced. It was an Achilles class loco 4-2-2 so like the Lord of the Isles.mattcarey wrote:Try http://www.greatwestern.org.uksp316 wrote:not quite sure if they are true

I don't think there was ever an Ark Royal Loco.

I just knew that there would be some smart-backside that would drag in some oil-burner! :mattvince wrote:Yes, there were locomotives called Dreadnought and Ark Royal, numbered 50001 and 50035 respectively.
