Might go out and photograph this working, it will be the first time I've seen steam on the mainline. I don't know the line very well so can anyone recomend a good spot between Malton and Scarborough? Might even go to Filey for the return working but that will depend on the weather and I'm not too keen on hanging around waiting.

Try Kirkham Abbey - it's between York and Malton, and there's some really good photo opportunities there! If I get chance, I'll be on top of the small hill to the north-east of the signalbox - great for the video camera :D .

Sorry, should have said that Kirkham Abbey is well signposted off the main York - Scarboro' road - follow those, and you'll get to the railway before you get to the Abbey!

Thanks! I'll be out with my camera.

Am I psychic?

I don't think so. Light would be going for a photo-stop, but it might. Especially if it gets stuck behind a unit from Brid to Hull :P

You can get a raised view of it passing through Seamer from the footpath near Morrison's Supermarket.

The weathermen have forcast snow tommorow which isn't the best thing to travel in on a motorbike so I'll have to give this one a miss :( Good luck to those out with their camera's tommorow, hopefully the weather will be on my side for the last runs over Shap.

Followers of this thread may be pleased to know the service reached Scarborough on time. Even the sun popped out momentarily out of the mist!

Just had my spy from Hull on the line.

Seems some problems were encountered around Driffield that caused a 20/25 minute dalay.

Better hope its not broken, the loco is due to work Cleethorpes - Kings Cross next Saturday.

They probably encountered a send /don't send message as that track section hasn't been steam tested lately, so the activity may have been out of date. The delay was getting the system to reboot!

Second thoughts, I haven't built the line as far as Driffield yet, no wonder they had problems!
