When we moved into our house, Merv Smith, who voiced over several well-known railway videos, lived up the road.
Pardon me, boy
Is that the Chattanooga choo choo?
Track twenty-nine
Boy, you can gimme a shine
I can afford
To board a Chattanooga choo choo
I've got my fare
And just a trifle to spare.

I live near Brighton where the "Worlds First Electric Railway" is on the beach and is still there today in working order. Other than that I live near the Crumbles area where the original ballast for the London Brighton and South Coast Railway was collected from.

I used to live next door to a bloke who travelled to work by train.

Cheers,

Sorry Fodda, Cuchulain's correct. IKB was born in Britain Street, Portsea, Portsmouth on 9 April 1806, according to Adrian Vaughan's book on the great man...

I don't think anyone (railway) famous has come out of Stevenage - although, come to think of it, Sir Nigel Gresley used to live in Watton-at-Stone, which is about five miles away.

Well I'm almost ashamed to say that:

1: I don't know anybody that's famous.
2: I don't live near anybody that's famous
3: I've never met anybody that's famous
4: I don't think I've ever lived near anybody that's famous
5: I don't think I'll ever be famous.
