It would be Weymouth.

I had a photo of a railtour I went on once down the Tramway which took us one way and agave us a chance to phot the empty stock working back to the station. I've a couple of shots of the 33 on street, and used to have one of the 33 at a zebra crossing which I had made into a slide and used to use at talks on Midland Metro to "frighten" the opponents

"And this is the type of stock we will be using to keep down the cost. You may get a bit of rumble as it goes past and I suggest you don't walk out on the crossing as it approaches - in this test we didn't quite stop in time...."

I'll try and dig the pictures out and scan a few in.

I would of thought Class 33's ran to Weymouth. Class 50's would of been on the West Coast Mainline or on the Great Western Main Line.

The biggest loco to do the Weymouth Tramway was a 37 if I recall, on a Pathfinder railtour and yes I was on it (the Railtour, not the loco). The other occasion when I went down the Tramway we swapped our 47 for a 33. I doubt a 50 would have been cleared for the route.

The odd 50 did make it to Weymouth Town, but not the Quay.

In their later years, they did Waterloo-Exeter-Plymouth, so the odd one reaching Weymouth wouldn't be so far fetched. I doubt they were light enough for the Tramway section, though.

Yes, I forgot to mention the 50's doing the Waterloo - Exeter route.

I guess the odd 50 working to Weymouth pulled the REP's and TC's?

No. TCs would only multiple with REPs, 33/1s, 73/1s and 74s.

I can remember at least one diagrammed Summer SO service rostered for a 50 + 8 NSE Mk IIs

no, class 50's and 33/0's and worked 4 & 8 tc's every once in a while, all you needed were air pipe extentions, most southern region based loco's carried these, to aid asisting failed emu's.
