FNW/ARRIVA/TPX train swaps
Moderator: Moderators
I don't have too much of a problem with the TPE '158s' - they seem fairly comfortable! Then again, Central run their '158s' up here too
. Surprisingly, a three-car set turned up for my return to Cleethorpes at the weekend - that was from Doncaster - and a couple of FNW liveried units have been reported at Cleethorpes already. The only unit I've seen so far with the First vinyls 'applied' was actually on an Arriva service!

Leave the 158s alone! The fool who said they all stink should steer well clear of me then, as he'll get an earful from me!
What is with this thread? It is amazingly wide!
That livery better had be temporary. Still, the blue doesn't look too bad.
What will ATW use then if the 158s all go salopiangrowler? There is nothing they can realistically replace them with yet! ATW don't have the money to buy new trains!

Project H2P status: Currently awaiting software to fix PC problems. Got a start on .mkr file, hoping to continue that soon. Wprk should re-commence very soon.

Im sorry but they do stink, it isn't the 158s fault it stinks, they are filthy, some are so dirty I just want to clean them myself just to prove its possible to have a clean fresh smelling 158 come out of a CT depot.jjules wrote:Leave the 158s alone! I've really noticed the difference on the trains! At rush hour (and for most of the day), three car units are operating the Hull-Manchester Airport services so they are much less crowded, especially from beverley to Hull. They are very clean and every seat has a little 'Transpennine Express' disposable cloth on the head rest. Much more pleasant.

Not wanting to shout and argue, but you've evidentally never been on an ATW 158 then. Nor a Wessex one. CT are (as usual) the worst offenders for not looking after their trains, yet they complain about vandalism...alex2008 wrote:Im sorry but they do stink, it isn't the 158s fault it stinks, they are filthy, some are so dirty I just want to clean them myself just to prove its possible to have a clean fresh smelling 158 come out of a CT depot.jjules wrote:Leave the 158s alone! Ok I apologise for my earlier comments about the 158's I must of being jumping the gun a little as I have not travelled on many 158's other than CT's recently, its just that from when I have travelled on other 158s they have appeared well used but obviously due to my lack of long distance travel recently I have not seen what some operators have been able to do with them.
The disposable cloth idea sounds a very nice touch, but not costing much either.
