Mid Hants Railway is absolutely fantastic, as you get to open the engines up with a fair bit of regulator, climbing the bank up to Medstead & Fourmarks from Ropley, and again coming away from Alton you are straight into the 3.5 miles of 1in60 bank up to Medstead, you only shut off as you reach the home signal. :lol

Drive real twin track mainline at GCR Loughborough. Best day out ever.

Bluebell Railway also does driver training days.

Bressingham steam museum will let you drive one of the narrow gauge locos for a morning, including breakfast (i believe) for an early start to clean and get steam up, and then with about 3 hours actual running, but you cant run any service trains :(

It looked a good overall package when i checked up on it last year and i was very nearly tempted. Maybe this year.

East Kent railway, near Dover. Drive a Class 33 and do some shutning aswell as trips of the line. Feel the engine come to life as you open it up going through the tunnel near Shepherdswell.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who said that
Seriously though, the Mid Hants are very good. The guy who does it is strict, but strict in a way that you learn so much so easily.
