I'll be there at some point! How about a UKTS meet-up sometime during the event?

I'm going! I was going to start a thread on this event, but someone beat me to it!

What are the official dates then for it? I can't say when I'll be there for sure, but I'll be there. I'd be there on all dates if I could, but thats not possible.

OK, thanks. I'll start enquiring about rail tickets for those dates then.

At least now I can mark it on my calendar!

York is half way between London (Kings Cross station) and Edinburgh. It takes less than two hours to travel to York from London with trains every half hour, at least 25 direct trains each week day.

There is a rail link to and from Manchester International Airport with trains leaving every hour during the day. Direct rail services also run to York from many of the UK's regional centres.

The Museum is only a few minutes walk from York railway station. Turn left on leaving the station, pass the Le Meridien Hotel then turn left into Leeman Road. Continue through the underpass to the City Entrance situated on the left as you exit. The route is signposted from the station.

For a quick, convenient route from the city centre you can catch the Road Train straight to the Museum's door from York Minster. There's a return trip every 30 minutes during the main holiday season.

For visitors travelling by road York is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the A1(M) motorway and 40 minutes from Leeds/Bradford Airport. The Museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city.

Visitors arriving by car should park in the Visitors Car Park and enter the Museum via the Car Park entrance. At busy times further car parking space is available in the overflow car park opposite (see map below). The daily car parking charge is £5.00.

Lucky for me its also the first week of my annual summer holiday. As I dont have any plans yet, it looks like I could be having a week in York.

I'll look forward to that as its a beautiful city.

Stupid question, but what is the best way of getting to York from South Wales? Travelling as much as possible with VT, but a bit of GNER would go down nicely...

Thanks for the map buffy500. How did you know I'd want one! :)

LOL. It would make sense though to have it right by the station. Besides, I suspect it would have been signposted upon arrival in York anyway, unlike the Cardiff event will be.
