I want to get some old LU stock, and build a small railway on some land. How would I do this?

Try winning the lottery, or settling for 'small railway' in 'OO' terms...

First things first, Acquire shed loads of money.

When you've done this, Send me a few thousand as proof and I will try and work out the next step.

I've thought about saving a few items of rolling stock myself, But so far my lottery numbers have not come up..... 89001 and 58001 are on my shopping list, As long as the price is right...... feck knows what I'll do with them though... Maybe I'll give fragonset a call.

AFAIAA, if you've got enough money and land, you can plant a railway on it and do what you want without bothering the planning authorities or railway regulations, so long as it's for private use etc. Your insurance company may have something to add to that, however.

Didn't the guy who bought "Union of South Africa" run it on his own land a few years back? Must look it up.

I'd love to own a 158 and a few miles of track.

Pity it'll only ever be a dream :(

If I had the money I'd buy smoe track and 3rd rail Electrify it and then run old SR Slammers on it. By the time I've got enough money though the Slammers will be well gone and I'll problably end up picking up a Desiro and/or Electrostar from a scrapyard, maybe a Juniper aswell if they havn't all been scrapped well before then (we're talking 10 or 15 years from now :D ). Perhaps have another line with 25kV overhead and get an ex Virgin Pendolino and a 357 or 360.

I have £2 million to spend.

Well, just £1 million at the moment, with potential of another million later. I'm sure that should be more than enough.
